Yes, our littlest chickadee is a girl... and she's just gorgeous!

As grandparents, you'll excuse us for thinking that all our chickadees are all just gorgeous!  I'm not making any excuses for being over the moon at the safe arrival of our littlest girl.  I find sitting on the side-lines watching the entire process absolutely nerve-wracking!

I spent yesterday morning cleaning the house, all the while having ernest conversations with my angels... couldn't settle to anything as I watched the clock tick by so I had to 'move'!!!.

Whoever said you have to sit in a quiet place with your legs crossed to 'meditate' didn't know what they were talking about... you can meditate as you move, as you clean, as you shower.  Meditation is a 'state' of mind.  Thankfully, I find 'zoning out' very easy to do.  It helped to pass the time while we waited for the phone to ring.

Our littlest girl looks just like she did in the scan picture I posted previously.  This photo was taken yesterday afternoon when she was just a few hours old.

Needless to say, we have all fallen in love with her!   Haven't seen her 'awake' as yet... haven't had a cuddle yet... will be doing heaps of that!

Virtual catch-up time... returning to 'normal'...

Whatever 'normal' might be!

Well the holidays are done and dusted and we've had a fantastic time catching up with some of our family and friends 'in person' instead of virtually.  Skype is wonderful, but there's nothing quite like a real hug and cuddle and time spent chatting away into the wee hours of the night about things so many families take for granted.  I think these times are made ever more precious because we know they won't last and that we'll soon be having to put on brave faces for yet another airport farewell.

Oh well, I tell myself that each parting is just another step on the path to our next meeting.  If one doesn't keep one's eyes on the horizon one might easily lose the way. This is all just one big adventure!  Isn't it?  I know we have a visit from our Chicks in Palma to look forward to and we're all very excited at the prospect of spending time with the two of them!!!

Our 'UK' chickies have landed safely in their Wimbledon nest and all will soon return to 'normal' for them too.  My 'other-daughter' (don't like that 'in-law' word... too many negative connotations!) made the marathon run home to London on her own with the littlies.  Not a job for the feint-hearted.  Apparently, they were very good and the journey went well.  Needless to say, they are all exhausted and it will take them a while to reset their internal clocks.  It will help that it's still dark early/late.

Our preggie-chick is due to deliver very shortly now.  She's looking absolutely fantastic, but her feet are swelling in the heat now.  We're all debating on when bub will make an entry.  I'm putting my name down for Wednesday 3rd February.  Gender?  Well, that's a difficult one... I kept dreaming it was a little boy, but woke up this morning thinking it would be a girl and she would weigh 8lbs 4oz.  What do you think? I sure hope they have a name for a boy and a girl. We'll all be thrilled to have a healthy baby and nobody is at all fussed as to the gender.  Or when it will be delivered.  We're just trying to keep things 'light'.

There are heaps of photos to be posted after they've been resized and I promise to start posting some tomorrow morning.  Arabella Chickie in Palma... there are some lovely shots from NZ.  I've managed to sort most of them out now and have finished downloading the lot to my computer.

Oh, the mysterious malfunction of both our cars has finally been solved.  The coil needed replacing.  In both cars.  Yes, I am serious.  They inexplicably continued to go to sleep on us, in perfect unison, over the last two weeks.  This happened four times.  Fortunately, preggie-chicks 'other half' was able to loan us a car (for which we are extremely grateful) while all this drama played out.  Who would want to be driving through the Sydney tunnels with two wee chickadees on board in a car that couldn't be trusted to stay awake?  It's still one heck of a coincidence that they both fell asleep, at the same time, for the same reason.

My men are all back at work and I will be in full swing from Monday too.  Lots of marketing to be done for my other half and for myself.  I just need to get into the 'mood'...  to focus...  this post is my first attempt at that.

Jingle Bells, Jingle Bells...

Here comes Christmas!

I've bought a cherry stollen and some wonderful lebkuchen and a date and walnut pudding to take with to New Zealand, where we'll be having a family get together this year.

My husband will be meeting his littlest UK chickadee for the first time and we're looking really forward to playing with both our UK chickadees for the first time in ages.  What an amazing gift!

It's going to be so good to catch up with all our extended family and our friends again.  We'll have to light candles for those that can't be with us.

We're going to be Christening our littlest chickadee while we're there too.

Not long to go now... soon I shall begin to count the sleeps.

Preggy Chick is now 29 weeks and looking wonderful (you did ask for a count down).

Our Greek chickies won't be joining us for Christmas this year and our Sydney chickies will be staying here while we pop over to Auckland, but we'll celebrate together another time. Won't we?

Fluff!

Well, our UK chickadees are now safely ensconced in their new nest.  Their parents are absolutely exhausted, but Madame Cholet's little Dolphin Chick is ecstatic!  She can reach all the light switches and best of all, all her toys now live in her room.

Given that this is the chickadee that can be heard singing and talking to herself (albeit in her bed!) an hour (or more!) after 'lights out', I'm not quite sure how they're ever going to get her to go to sleep again. She has been very good about not getting out of bed though... except for one night when I went upstairs while I was visiting and found her lying on the bottom shelf of her change table.  Every nappy had been chucked out to make space and there was no way she was going back to the comfort of her little bed. It reminded me of the times I would 'camp' under my bed when I was little.

The brilliant news is that their Skype connection seems to be so much better than it was before and their picture is that much clearer.  I reckon it was definitely worth moving for that!
